New Delhi: The debate on the no-confidence motion against Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla turned heated between Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi and BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad, after Rahul raised issues of "Prime Minister Narendra Modi being compromised".

After the opposition parties moved a no-confidence motion against Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Tuesday, 10 hours was been allotted for debate. The resolution against Birla was moved by Congress MP Mohammad Jawed on Tuesday.

What happen in Lok Sabha?

The debate again began on Wednesday with Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi mounting attack on the government in the house.

During the debate, Rahul Gandhi slammed Lok Sabha Speaker and said that he was stopped by him from speaking after he raised important issues in the house.

While speaking Rahul also said that "the PM is compromised."

Speaking in Parliament, Rahul Gandhi, said, "The discussion here is about the democratic process and the role of the Speaker. Multiple times, my name has been raised, and wild things have been said about me. This House is the expression of the people of India. It does not represent one party, but the whole country. Every time we get up to speak, we are stopped from speaking. The last time I spoke, I raised a fundamental question about the compromises made by our PM."

How did BJP react to this statement?

While defending Prime Minister Narendra Modi and criticizing Rahul Gandhi, BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad said that "the PM can never be compromised."

"I would like to remind the LoP that the Prime Minister of India can never be compromised," Ravi Shankar Prasad said.

BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad also addressed the house on impeachment motion against Om Birla.

While speaking on motion to remove Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Ravi Shankar Prasad cited precents laid by the BJP as a form of protest in parliaments to attack opposition

He also said that that when UPA was in power then LOP LK Advani was not allowed to speak.

Prasad said, "when during UPA 1 'case for question case' was brought in Lok Sabha, LK Advani who was Leader of Opposition was not allowed to speak by then speaker Somnath Chatterjee, and as a form of protest BJP chose to walk out and even after insistence of Speaker they didn't come back because they didn't agree with the conduct in house."

What did KC Venugopal say?

While targeting PM Modi, senior Congress MP KC Venugopal hit back at BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad saying that the logics used by PM for decisions are questionable.

"PM Modi at the time of Balakot strikes said we should go ahead as there are clouds and hence can evade radar. Your PM gives such logic and you question Rahul Gandhi," he said.

Did Rahul respond to Prasad's statement?

Amid clash with Ravi Shankar Prasad, Rahul Gandhi said that 'Lok Sabha belongs to entire country'.

"Whenever we get up to speak, we are stopped. Lok Sabha does not belong to one party but to the entire country," he said.

Will Amit Shah also address Lok Sabha during debate?

Union home minister Amit Shah is scheduled to address the Lok Sabha during the debate on the motion.

His remarks are expected to outline the government’s position and respond to the allegations raised by Opposition members during the discussion.

Why was no-confidence motion brought against the Speaker?

It has been alleged in the motion that the Speaker did not give the opposition leaders a chance to speak on several occasions. The opposition also says that some comments were made about women MPs that were not appropriate. Apart from this, there has also been mention of suspending opposition MPs for the entire session for raising public issues.
